Strategic Facilitation: Talk Matters
To transform our organizations and communities, we have to be able to sit down together and talk things through - bringing all relevant parties to the table, focusing on critical issues, and continuously building the capacity for conversation.
The key to effective meetings is design. What needs to happen before, at the start, during and after a work session? How do we create the conditions for talking and listening, for something new to get heard?
I design and facilitate community meetings, board retreats, team planning and development sessions. With the right people, the right task, and the right process, groups generate breakthroughs in understanding and performance.
Love the clarity and simplicity with which you deal with a complex topic! — Marty Kaplan
Your presentation was perfect - so useful and inspiring. The teachers are still talking about it and we will use the skills throughout the year. Thanks to you for your energy, positive light, and sharing tools that will make a difference. — Belann Giarretto, Pacific Primary
Laura’s changed the way I think about leadership and the work I do in the theater. Not only is she master facilitator, but a thought leader with the ability to
frame complex issues and help a team arrive at creative solutions. Her approach blends rigor and practicality, with compassion and care. She creates the safe space to tackle the hard questions. — Jacob Padron, New York Public Theater
It never ceases to amaze me how accessible, practical, relevant and meaningful you make the learning process. Our firm owes much of its success and functioning to your generosity and skill in sharing your knowledge and talents. — Steven LaFrance, Learning for Action
